Eva Lillian Christensen was born in Vera Cruz, Mexico on March 29, 1938; she passed away on December 11, 2024 at age 86. Eva was a dynamic and confident family pillar. Throughout her life Eva enjoyed rousing games of Bingo, Black Jack and Yahtzee. She knew how to have good fun! She was a caring, compassionate person with a sweet smile. She also loved a good lemon meringue pie, Emma’s homemade pineapple pie and a yummy peach pie. She will be greatly missed.
In 1957, Eva met Joseph E.A. Côté in Mexico as a substitute tour guide. They fell in love, married and relocated in the U.S. where Eva learned English. With pride, Eva received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Fresno State University in the 1990s. In Fresno, she gave birth to daughters Debbie L. Côté and Patricia J. Côté.
She is predeceased by husband, Cliff Christensen, her parents Jesus Guizar and Maria Aledon Guizar, siblings Hilda Stinson, Emma Mendez and Roberto Guizar.
In addition to her daughters, she is survived by sister Julia Espinoza, her daughter-in-law, Nancy Burns, and several dear nieces and nephews including Arlette Crosland, Ricardo Guizar, Ramon Guizar, and Jesus Espinoza Guizar. She is survived by grandchildren Zachary Sanders, Natalie Sanders and Jeremy Sanders.
A private family service will be held in Oaxaca, MX in 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The California Armenian Home (a non-profit organization), 6720 E. Kings Canyon Rd., Fresno, CA 93727.
