Laverne Mary Alves

LaVerne was born in Selma in 1925 to Manuel and Mary Leal. She passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the age of 87.

LaVerne graduated from Alvina Elementary School and Caruthers High School. She married the love of her life Tony Alves in 1945 and were happily married for 67 years.
Mom's memory of people, events, and family histories will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Mary Leal, brothers Manuel Leal of Fresno and Anthony "Tony" Leal of Dallas, Texas.

LaVerne is survived by her loving husband Tony Alves of Caruthers, her son Leonard Alves & his wife Cathy of Coalinga; grandson Jacob Alves of Lafayette, LA, her daugher Patty Alves of Fresno; Debbie Gallaher, her husband Kevin, sons Cole and Ross all of Caruthers and many other nieces, nephews, special cousins and family members.

The family would like to thank LaVerne's two caregivers Shannon Lebar and Kelli Parks for all their love and the special attention they gave to Mom over the last two years and to St. Agnes Hospice for all their care and support.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 12, 2012 at Thomas Robinson Funeral Home, Selma, CA from 5 pm to 6 pm. Then a recitation of the rosary will begin immediately following at 6 pm.

A Christian funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Caruthers, CA on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10:00 am. Graveside Service will follow later that day at Selma District Cementary at 2:00 pm.
