Matthew Aaron Collins entered heaven on Monday, August 28th. He was born a beautiful, bouncing, baby boy on August 6th, 1975 in Visalia, California. Matthew was intelligent, articulate, and talented. He was devoted to his children, family, and friends. He was kind, caring, and committed. He was also a force to be reckoned with, strong willed and determined when he decided on a course of action.
Matthew attended school in at Clay School Junior High in Kingsburg and Immanuel High School in Reedley. He graduated from Reedley College and Fresno Pacific University after high school and went on to finish a post-graduate degree at Golden Gate University. He was employed at Coalinga State Hospital as a Treatment Coordinator. He loved his job there and made incredible friendships with the staff while working there.
Matthew was a fanatical football fan - totally devoted to the San Francisco 49ers from a very young age. He was a voracious reader, loved comics and movies, and was a huge fan of the Captain America character from Marvel Comics. To all who attend, please feel free to wear a Captain America t-shirt if you have one.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Elsa Collins and Alvin and Ruth Pinney, as well as his cousin Michelle Graham Sakovich.
Matthew is survived by his beloved children Anne-Marie and Mackenzie, his parents Joseph and Betty, his brother Gregory, his uncle Arthur Collins, and uncle Gary and aunt Glenda Pinney, aunt Linda Graham-Santos, cousins Bob, Ethan, Jennifer, Jessica, John, Natalie, and Sean, and his former wife, Irma Collins.
We would like to sincerely thank all the individuals who have shown us so much kindness, especially Greg Williams, Immanuel High School, and his friends from Coalinga State Hospital, and the Ruiz family.
Donations on the family's behalf may be sent to Feed the Poor or the donor's favorite charity.
